	February, 2010 - Non-isocyanate polyurethane for Adhesives & Sealants An initiative to protect the health and safety of a chemical material user is always good news. After years of tests and discussions about the danger related to the use of MDI-base products, the new legislation concerning classification and labeling of MDI and the new Global Harmonized System (GHS) will be implemented in December 2010.

Of the 11.8 Millions Tonnes of Adhesives and Sealants produced in the world each year, there is close to 5 Millions Tonnes of Waterborne Adhesives (wet formulated products).

From a definition standpoint, a hotmelt adhesive is a thermoplastic polymer that is solid at room temperature and liquid at elevated temperature. Without going too far back in history, let's consider that modern hotmelt adhesives were really developed in the 1960s.
