Airflex 401 vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer Air Products Ethylene copolymers - emulsions (VAE, EVC) >> Vinyl Acetate Ethylene copolymers, VAE Airflex 401 vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer emulsion serves as a versatile adhesive base for various packaging, envelope and laminating applications. This emulsion contains higher levels of ethylene than Airflex 400 emulsion, which makes Airflex 401 emulsion more flexible. Airflex 401 emulsion has rapid setting speed, good mechanical stability and easy-cleaning properties. Compounding Airflex 401 emulsion can be compounded with the typical plasticizers, solvents, fillers and thickeners used for other poly(vinyl acetate)-based adhesives. The compounding characteristics of Airflex 401 emulsion are very similar to those of Airflex 400 emulsion. Higher viscosities can be obtained with plasticizers and solvents. The emulsion is compatible with other Airflex vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymers, Flexbond® vinyl acrylic copolymer and Vinac® vinyl acetate homopolymer emulsions. Applications: Airflex 401 emulsion has been developed as an adhesive base which can bond a wide variety of substrates depending on how the emulsion is compounded. This polymer has good adhesion to both coated and uncoated paper, cellulose acetate, polystyrene and poly(vinylidene chloride). The emulsion is recommended for use in various packaging (including low-temperature packaging) and high-speed envelope applications where rapid setting speeds, good mechanical stability and easy-clean properties are required. A particularly useful property is the long open time which prevents premature drying under conditions of prolonged exposure to air (such as large-diameter applicator rolls). Vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer emulsion. Provides good flexibility, rapid setting speed, good mechanical stability and easy-cleaning properties. Adhesive base for various packaging, envelope and laminating applications.
