Airflex 410 vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer Air Products Ethylene copolymers - emulsions (VAE, EVC) >> Vinyl Acetate Ethylene copolymers, VAE Airflex 410 emulsion is a vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer which serves as an excellent base for adhesive formulations. In addition to exhibiting typical vinyl acetate-ethylene adhesion to polar and nonpolar surfaces, low-temperature flexibility and high-temperature creep resistance, Airflex 410 emulsion provides excellent water resistance and crystal-clear, tough films. This emulsion also heat seals to paper and packaging films at lower temperatures than Airflex 400 emulsion. Airflex 410 emulsion exhibits excellent sprayability both neat and when blended with other emulsions because it is stabilized with HEC. Compounding Airflex 410 emulsion is compatible with other Airflex emulsions, with Vinac® homopolymer vinyl acetate emulsions and with Flexbond® vinyl acrylic copolymer emulsions. Airflex 410 emulsion can also accept high levels of various additives, including rubber lattices, while maintaining a workable viscosity. Plasticizers and tackifying resins generally used with vinyl acetate homopolymer and copolymer emulsions can be used with Airflex 410 emulsion. In addition, Airflex 410 emulsion is dextrin compatible and borax compatible. This emulsion’s thickening capacity with solvents and plasticizers is low. It will accept high loadings of such fillers as calcium carbonate and clay without appreciably changing the viscosity. Thickening can be accomplished using such materials as hydroxyethyl cellulose or polyacrylic acid-acrylamide copolymer resins. Applications: Airflex 410 emulsion will bond films of such materials as poly(vinyl chloride), poly(vinylidene chloride) cellulose acetate, polystyrene and cellophane to porous substrates. It also will bond such widely diversified substrates as leather, paper, wood, cloth (made from natural or synthetic fibers), urethane foam and many types of coated paperboard — notably SBR-coated board and acrylic-coated board. Airflex 410 emulsion has the ability to adhere to a wide variety of surfaces which makes it particularly well suited for many flocking, packaging and laminating applications. Additionally, its low viscosity, high solids content and mechanical stability make this emulsion a prime candidate for spraying applications. Vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer emulsion. Colloidally stabilized for high water resistance and good wet tack. Provides adhesion to polar and nonpolar surfaces, low-temperature flexibility, high-temperature creep resistance, good water resistance, crystal-clear, tough films. Provides moderate adhesion to glass, clear film, no dry tack and good flexibility.
