Airflex 460 vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer Air Products Ethylene copolymers - emulsions (VAE, EVC) >> Vinyl Acetate Ethylene copolymers, VAE Airflex 460 emulsion is a low-viscosity, high-solids vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer produced through a unique process technology which excludes formaldehyde from the manufacturing process. The emulsion has very good adhesion to a wide variety of difficult-to-adhere substrates such as plastic films and coated papers. The emulsion can be compounded into very high-solids adhesives because of its high solids and low viscosity and its ability to accept high loadings of fillers. Airflex 460 emulsion will also not thicken appreciably with the addition of plasticizers. The emulsion is mechanically shear stable which upon drying forms a clear, slightly tacky film. Compounding Airflex 460 emulsion can be compounded in a manner similar to Airflex 400, Airflex 465 and Airflex 7200 emulsions. It is compatible with other vinyl acetate-based polymers, including Vinac® homopolymer, Flexbond® copolymer and Airflex copolymer emulsions. Airflex 460 emulsion can also be blended with Flexbond acrylic lattices. Applications: Airflex 460 emulsion’s high-solids content and adhesion to plastic substrates make it especially useful in bonding films to paper and board stocks, where lower water content and formaldehyde-free adhesives are required. The very good adhesion to difficult-to-bond surfaces shown by the emulsion is very useful in laminating films such as polystyrene, poly(ethylene terephthalate) and poly(vinylidene chloride). Low-viscosity, high-solids formaldehyde-free vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer emulsion. The emulsion is mechanically shear stable which upon drying forms a clear, slightly tacky film. Good adhesion to a wide variety of difficult-to-adhere substrates such as plastic films and coated papers. Provides good water resistance, good adhesion to glass, clear film, slight dry tack, good flexibility. Adhesion to plastic substrates.
