Airflex 7200 vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer Air Products Ethylene copolymers - emulsions (VAE, EVC) >> Vinyl Acetate Ethylene copolymers, VAE Airflex 7200 emulsion is an ultra high-solids, poly(vinyl alcohol)-stabilized vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer emulsion. This copolymer emulsion exhibits 72 percent solids with a moderate viscosity of 1,500-3,000 cPs. Airflex 7200 emulsion was designed to provide excellent setting speed, wet tack, machining characteristics, film clarity, improved adhesion to a variety of substrates including low-energy films, and heat resistance. The dry film of Airflex 7200 emulsion is slightly tacky, clear and water resistant. Its shearstable character allows the Airflex 7200 emulsion to be applied on high-speed packaging machines using roll, extrusion or spray equipment. Airflex 7200 emulsion does not thicken excessively on the addition of plasticizers, fillers or re-dispersible powders. This behavior allows the formulator to prepare very high-solids adhesives. Compounding Airflex 7200 copolymer emulsion can be compounded in a manner similar to Airflex 400 or Airflex 465 emulsions. Airflex 7200 emulsion is compatible with many types of plasticizers, thickeners and resins. Properties such as hardness/softness, brittleness/flexibility, heat/cold resistance, elasticity, resilience, toughness and specific adhesion can all be designed into the Airflex 7200 emulsion due to its excellent compatibility with a variety of these raw materials. With the addition of plasticizer, Airflex 7200 emulsion demonstrates a moderate thickening response. This moderate thickening response allows the compounder to add a plasticizer and dilute the formulation with very little water to a satisfactory running viscosity without losing the benefits of high solids. The addition of plasticizer significantly increases the water resistance of the emulsion, and further improves adhesion to lowenergy surfaces. The moderate viscosity of Airflex 7200 emulsion enables it to be further compounded to increase the solids and the tack values. Airflex 7200 emulsion is compatible with other poly(vinyl acetates), including Vinac® homopolymer, Flexbond® copolymer and Airflex copolymer emulsions. Airflex 7200 emulsion can also be blended with Flexbond acrylic lattices to enhance its adhesive performance on low-energy surfaces. Applications: The applications for Airflex 7200 copolymer emulsion are numerous. In high-performance vinyl laminations, Airflex 7200 emulsion provides excellent vinyl adhesion and good heat resistance with less warpage and reduced grain raise in the wood substrate for excellent aesthetics. In overprint laminations, Airflex 7200 emulsion gives the film clarity necessary for any construction. In construction applications, Airflex 7200 emulsion provides the filler acceptance necessary to produce high-solids adhesives. In bottle labeling and bookbinding, Airflex 7200 emulsion offers the unique rheology necessary for all machines. In high-speed packaging, Airflex 7200 emulsion shows both very fast setting speeds and extremely high wet tack. Ultra high-solids poly(vinyl alcohol)-stabilized vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer emulsion.
