Vinac 285 vinyl acetate homopolymer Air Products Polyvinyl acetate emulsions & derivatives (PVAc…) >> PVAc homopolymers ADHESIVE Vinac 285 emulsion is a low viscosity, vinyl acetate homopolymer that provides an excellent base for water-resistant adhesives. This emulsion has one of the highest levels of water resistance of any homopolymer emulsion available, yet it does not foam or skin as readily as do other water-resistant emulsions. Vinac 285 emulsion has a fine particle size that prevents settling and improves penetration into porous substrates. Vinac 285 emulsion is compatible with borax or related compounds and is mechanically stable. Compounding Vinac 285 emulsion does not thicken appreciably when compounded with fillers, plasticizers and/or solvents. Vinac 285 emulsion is also compatible with Vinac XX emulsions. When combined, the setting speed and the viscosity of the combination will be greater than those of either emulsion by itself. The addition of plasticizer to Vinac 285 emulsion will also increase its setting speed. Applications: Vinac 285 emulsion is well suited as an additive or blending agent for vinyl acetate homopolymer or vinyl acetate ethylene copolymer emulsions. It provides excellent water resistance and machinability to the blend above 30 percent addition levels. In addition, Vinac 285 emulsion blended into Vinac XX homopolymer emulsion can increase its filler loading levels. These features make it particluarly suited to packaging applications requiring higher levels of water resistance. Low viscosity, vinyl acetate homopolymer emulsion.
