Antifoams SAF-130 Dimethylsiloxane Akrochem Defoamers / Anti-Foaming Agents >> Silicone based SAF Antifoam is carefully formulated antifoam based on dimethylsiloxane fluid. This antifoam is specifically formulated to prevent foams from forming and keeps the system non-foaming with a quick knock down reaction. The silicone content of the SAF is 5 % and is emulsified with non-ionic grade emulsifiers. This antifoam have a specific gravity of approximately 1.0 and the emulsions contain a freeze/thaw stability of 4 cycles minimum. SAF Antifoam was formulated to be to be use as received or diluted to specific concentrations before application. When evaluating this antifoam, an ideal starting charge of 10 ppm “active or real” silicone is recommended then, if necessary, adjust the concentration to your optimum level for the best foam control. Remember that antifoams should always be added to most types of systems before foaming occurs. To produce the optimum foam control it is recommended that the antifoam be entirely dispersed into the foaming system by pre-diluting or ensuring adequate agitation to disperse the antifoam. SAF silicone antifoam shows excellent stability if stored in a cool area (40 - 80°F) in tightly closed containers. Freezing should be avoided and storing the emulsion at temperatures above 115°F will cause it to separate. An addition anti-bacterial preservative may be required when storing a diluted antifoam for more than a few days. Dimethylsiloxane fluid. Used as an antifoam.
