P 49 Resin Oil modified phenolic novolac resin Akrochem Epoxide (EP) >> Phenol & Cresol (Novolacs) An oil modified phenolic novolac resin supplied in the thermoplastic form. Requires the addition of 8% hexa to make it properly thermosetting. Supplied in flake form. Recommended for use in SBR rubber. Modification of the phenolic resin with a mineral oil improves SBR compatibility and dispersibility. This is the base resin used in P-55, but without hexa in it as received. Use of this resin allows full advantage to be taken of its strong plasticizing action during processing without fear of scorching. The hexa can then be added late in the mixing cycle or on the warm up mill to make the resin properly thermosetting on cure. The hexa used should be the finely pulverized rubber accelerator grade. Oil modified, thermoplastic phenolic novolac resin. Used in SBR rubber. Possesses improved SBR compatibility and dispersibility. Provides strong plasticizing action during processing without fear of scorching.
