P 86 Resin Thermoplastic phenolic novolac resin Akrochem Epoxide (EP) >> Phenol & Cresol (Novolacs) Thermoplastic as received and requires the addition of 8% hexa to make it properly thermosetting. This is the basic resin for P-87 (which contains 8% hexa). Compatible in all proportions in nitrile rubber. Modification of the phenolic resin with a cashew nut oil improves NBR compatibility and dispersibility. Recommended for use where scorching or pre-curing is encountered with resins containing hexa. The use of P-86 allows full advantage to be taken of its plasticizing action during processing without fear of pre-curing. The hexa can then be added late in the mixing cycle or on the warm-up mill to make the resin thermosetting upon application of heat in the cure. The hexa used should be the finely ground rubber accelerator grade. Thermoplastic plenolic novolac resin. Compatible in nitrile rubber. Possesses better compatibility and dispersibility with NBR when a cashew nut oil is added. Recommended for use where scorching or pre-curing is encountered with resins containing hexa. Provides plasticizing action during processing without fear of pre-curing.
