Expancel 092 DU 40 Polymer shell encapsulating a gas Akzo Nobel-Expancel Extenders / Fillers Acrylics/ Acrylates Polyesters PU - Prepolymers Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) SEALANT >> Putty SEALANT >> Plastisol EXPANCEL DU dry, unexpanded microspheres EXPANCEL ® microspheres are small spherical plastic particles. The microspheres consist of a polymer shell encapsulating a gas. Elasticity All EXPANCEL ® grades are highly resilient. Thanks to this resiliency the EXPANCEL ® microspheres can withstand several cycles of loading/unloading without breaking. This is very important when the microspheres are used in shock absorbent materials but also when pumping the microspheres, alone or in various mixtures. Chemical resistance EXPANCEL ® microspheres can be used in contact with many chemicals, including solvents without discoloration or negative effects on ex-pansion or other properties. Unexpanded microspheres are used as a blowing agent. When added to PVC-plastisols for underbody coatings and sealants the good thermo-mechanical properties of unexpanded EXPANCEL ® microspheres provide a cured plasti-sol with low density at a wide gelation area of the plastisol. The microspheres give a controlled ex-pansion with a narrow interval of the plastisol density and uniform cells, which are evenly distributed, much more uniform than with chemical blowing agents. Applicability EXPANCEL ® microspheres are added to putties, caulking and sealing compounds to lower their weight and hence save energy and work and make them easier to handle. In putties, caulking and sealing compounds etc the presence of EXPANCEL ® microspheres give the various formulations butter-like or creamy consistency, making them easy to apply. Putties and body fillers containing microspheres have excellent sanding properties. In polyurethane sealants the microspheres improve shock-, vibration- and sound absorption. The microspheres also improve the thermoinsulation of polyurethane sealants. The microspheres improve the recovery after elongation and compression of many materials, i e acrylic latex caulk and silicone rubbers. Low after-sinking and shrinkage is the result when microspheres are added to putties, thermoset materials, RIM, acrylic latex caulk, underbody coatings etc. Dry, unexpanded microsphere. Used as blowing agent in PVC-plastisols for underbody sealants, putties, polyurethane sealants and acrylic latex caulks. Offers high resiliency, ability to withstand several cycles of loading/unloading without breaking, good chemical resistance and good thermo-mechanical properties. Provides low density, controlled expansion and uniform cells, reduction of weight, easy application, very good sanding properties and low after-sinking and shrinkage. Improves shock-, vibration- and sound absorption, thermoinsulation and recovery after elongation and compression.
