Alcoa Hydral products are specially precipitated aluminum trihydroxides. They are ultra-fine, crystalline, organic-free, pure white powders. offers similar chemical and physical properties as the Hydral products. Hydral 716 is a coarser version of Hydral 710. The advantage of a coarser distribution is a 30% reduction in surface area. This product can be tailored for specific applications. It displays outstanding flame-retardant and smoke-suppressant properties for thermoset and thermoplastics as well as elastomeric copolymers. It is particularly useful as filler and coating pigment for fine printing papers for increased brightness, smoothness, and opacity. It is also useful as a reinforcing pigment in adhesives and adhesive tapes, and in waxes and polishes when a relatively soft and extremely fine mild abrasive is required.
