Omacide IPBC 30DPG 3-Iodo-2-propynylbutyl carbamate 55406-53-6 Arch Chemicals Preservatives / Biocides / Fungicides ADHESIVE SEALANT Protection from microbial growth is vital to the performance and aesthetics of construction adhesives and sealants. The damp and sometimes wet areas where these products are often used provide a fertile breeding ground for numerous types of mold, mildew and fungi. Unprotected formulations can develop foul odors, unsightly stains and premature failure of the product. To help combat these problems, Arch offers zinc OMADINE®, sodium OMADINE® and OMACIDE® IPBC antimicrobial agents. When added to sealant and adhesive formulations, they provide superior dry state protection for a wide variety of interior and exterior applications. Arch offers eight biocides for use in adhesives & carpeting applications. With both fungicidal and algicidal efficacy, these products prevent microbial growth in adhesives used in wallcovering and floorcovering applications. When added to the carpet backing, the addition of an Arch biocide significantly reduces the odor and stains that occur in and on the carpet due to the growth of molds, mildew, and fungi. The reduction of microorganisms in carpet is becoming increasingly important to those who specify antimicrobial carpet for the hospital and hospitality commercial carpet sectors. In addition, these products are used in a broad range of construction applications for caulks, sealants, tape joint compounds, paints and coatings. Arch offers a family of fungicide products based on iodopropynyl butyl carbamate (IPBC). OMACIDE® IPBC industrial fungicides are broad spectrum fungicide additives used in architectural coatings and construction applications (i.e. paints, stains, adhesives, caulks, and sealants), textiles, as well as plastic product applications to prevent dry film fungal growth. OMACIDE® IPBC industrial fungicides are very effective biocides for controlling fungal growth in aqueous-based metalworking fluids. OMACIDE® IPBC fungicides can be formulated into metalworking fluid concentrate or added directly to metalworking fluid concentrate or added directly to metalworking fluid sumps. In coating applications, 0.3 - 0.5% of active material by weight of total formulation will protect against mildew growth. Where climates are ideal for mildew growth, up to 1.0% of active component should be used. White paint formulations should be thoroughly evaluated for yellowing of the dry film, especially those containing resins based on styrenated polymers. Irreversible yellowing of the dry film may occur soon after application. In stains where protection against mold and staining fungi is required, 0.3 - 0.4% of active material is recommended. When formulating with IPBC powder, the material should be solubilized in a suitable polar solvent before it is added to the formulation. Iodopropynyl butyl carbamate(IPBC). Broad spectrum fungicide additive. Prevents dry film fungal growth. Used in adhesives, caulks, and sealants. Irreversible yellowing of the dry film may occur soon after application.
