Zinc Omadine FPS Zinc pyrithione Arch Chemicals Preservatives / Biocides / Fungicides Rubber - Elastomer (Chloroprene, Butyl …) ADHESIVE >> Water-based SEALANT >> Pre-formed tape / Gasket Protection from microbial growth is vital to the performance and aesthetics of construction adhesives and sealants. The damp and sometimes wet areas where these products are often used provide a fertile breeding ground for numerous types of mold, mildew and fungi. Unprotected formulations can develop foul odors, unsightly stains and premature failure of the product. To help combat these problems, Arch offers zinc OMADINE®, sodium OMADINE® and OMACIDE® IPBC antimicrobial agents. When added to sealant and adhesive formulations, they provide superior dry state protection for a wide variety of interior and exterior applications. Arch offers eight biocides for use in adhesives & carpeting applications. With both fungicidal and algicidal efficacy, these products prevent microbial growth in adhesives used in wallcovering and floorcovering applications. When added to the carpet backing, the addition of an Arch biocide significantly reduces the odor and stains that occur in and on the carpet due to the growth of molds, mildew, and fungi. The reduction of microorganisms in carpet is becoming increasingly important to those who specify antimicrobial carpet for the hospital and hospitality commercial carpet sectors. In addition, these products are used in a broad range of construction applications for caulks, sealants, tape joint compounds, paints and coatings. Zinc OMADINE® Antimicrobial Products Zinc OMADINE® products are highly active, broad spectrum antimicrobial agents that are registered around the world for use in both personal care as well as industrial product applications. In the U.S., zinc OMADINE® products are approved for use by the EPA and allowed by the FDA. Zinc OMADINE® fungicide-algaecide is the zinc complex of pyrithione (Fig 1.). Fig. 1 2-pyridinethiol-1-oxide, zinc complex Zinc OMADINE® fungicide-algaecide is the active ingredient in some of the leading antidandruff shampoo products around the world, and its' proven combination of efficacy and safety-in-use has made it the world's leading antidandruff agent for more than 30 years. Zinc OMADINE® fungicide-algaecide is listed in the FDA Final Monograph on Dandruff, Seborrheic Dermatitis, and Psoriasis as a Category I substance (i.e. generally recognized as safe and effective). In industrial applications, zinc OMADINE® products offer antimicrobial protection to substrates both in the wet (in-can) as well as in the dry film state. In dry film applications, zinc OMADINE® products also afford exceptional protection against algae growth in addition to mildew. Consequently, zinc OMADINE® fungicide-algaecide products are approved for use in inhibiting microbial growth (bacteria, fungi, and algae) in numerous industrial applications, including: Dry film and in-can preservative for water-based latexes, emulsions, pigment slurries, paints, caulks, adhesives, sealants, grouts, and patching compounds. Dry film preservative for in dry wall and other gypsum, pearlite, plaster-like or mineral-based building materials Dry film preservative for SBR and thermoplastic resins intended for use in various applications such as carpet backing and fiber, bath and sink mats, cushion and mattress foam, tarpaulins and awnings, wire and cable insulation, gaskets and weather stripping materials. Dry film preservative for marine antifouling paints Zinc complex of pyrithione. Possesses high activity, broad spectrum antimicrobial properties (against bacteria, fungi, and algaecide). Offers antimicrobial protection in the wet and in the dry film state. Used both in personal care as in industrial product applications. Application : water-based caulks, adhesives, sealants, gaskets, SBR and thermoplastic resins.
