Orevac PP-C Modified polypropylene Atofina Polyolefins (PE, PP) >> Polypropylene & derivatives ADHESIVE >> Tie layer OREVAC PP is a range of modified polypropylenes which, when molten, have excellent adhesive properties to various substrates and are designed to bond dissimilar materials in coextrusion applications. They are supplied as free flowing natural coloured granules. OREVAC PP is designed for use in applications where both its adhesive properties and the mechanical and heat resistance properties of polypropylene can be exploited. OREVAC PP-C is designed to be used as tie-layer in 3-layer coatings (epoxy primer/adhesive/polypropylene) for external pipe protection. OREVAC PP should be processed using the same conditions as those used for a similar melt index polypropylene. They are thermally stable over a wide temperature range but a melt temperature of 260°C should not be exceeded. Their cooling behaviour (crystallisation) is similar to that of conventional polypropylenes. Graphs showing the flow characteristics (melt viscosity as a function of shear rate) are available upon request. They show a regular change in viscosity under normal processing conditions. The temperature profiles (mentioned below) are recommended when extruding OREVAC PP binder resins . Apply OREVAC PP-C adhesives to a coat thickness of approx. 300-400 microns by the recommended method (either extrusion or powder spray). Since it is important that the polymer adhesive is allowed to bond chemically with the epoxy primer, this operation should take place before complete polymerisation of epoxy occurs. Modified polypropylene. Used as tie-layer in 3-layer coatings (epoxy primer/adhesive/polypropylene) for external pipe protection. Possesses very good adhesive properties to various substrates, mechanical and heat resistance properties.
