Glissopal V 220 Bulk Polyisobutene BASF Rubber - Elastomer >> Polyisobutylene, PIB SEALANT ADHESIVE >> Hot-melt ADHESIVE >> Hot-melt >> Pressure sensitive (HMPSA) Sealants industry: Polyisobutene - Reliable and effective The low molecular weight polyisobutenes of the Glissopal range are used in non-polar types as internal plasticizers. Sealants of this type perform very well at low temperatures, they are low fogging and easy to process, can contain very high proportions of fillers, and their adhesion is very good. They are employed in building, automobile and roofing applications and in the production of double-glazed windows. Adhesives: A strong, lasting bond The polyisobutenes marketed by BASF under the Glissopal and Oppanol trademarks are used in the production of adhesives. The low molecular weight Glissopal types are mainly employed in adhesives used in building, roofing and automotive applications. They are used in combination with medium molecular weight or high molecular weight polyisobutenes (Oppanol) in non-polar adhesives such as hot-melt or pressure-sensitive adhesives in a rate of 10 - 30 % Their high adhesion, low residual oligomer content, high purity, low pour point, convenient rheology and their compatibility with dispersed solids make them ideal for this type of application. Glissopal® types - Low molecular weight polyisobutene The low molecular weight products are marketed under the Glissopal trademark. The number-average molecular weight (Mn) of the individual products ranges between 550 and 2300. They are supplied in the form of clear, colourless, highly viscous liquids. They are free of chlorine, and they are miscible in all proportions with mineral oils and poly-a-olefins. Because of the special process by which they are manufactured, the Glissopal types contain a high proportion of terminal double bonds. This makes them highly reactive, with the result that the yield is high when they react with maleic anhydride to form polyisobutenyl succinic anhydride (PIBSA). High-performance dispersants for engine oils and detergents for diesel fuel additives can be manufactured by reacting PIBSA with polyamines. Low molecular weight, highly reactive, polyisobutene. Used in combination with medium and high molecular weight polyisobutenes in non-polar hot-melt and pressure-sensitive adhesives, as an internal plasticizer in non-polar sealants in building, automobile and roofing applications and in the production of double-glazed windows. Offers high adhesion, low residual oligomer content, high purity, low pour point, convenient rheology and compatibility with dispersed solids. Provides low fogging and easy processability and very high compatibility with fillers. Use level: 10-30 %.
