Emerox 1155 Azelaic acid 123-99-9 Cognis Polymer intermediates ADHESIVE >> Hot-melt ADHESIVE >> Solvent based Hotmelts (polyamide, polyester, polyurethane) Solvent based adhesives systems (polyurethane) Reactive adhesives systems (polyester, polyurethane) Cognis PMT product descriptions: Emerox® Azelaic Acid (1,9 nonanedioic acid) is a naturally based, 9-carbon, saturated, straight chain dibasic acid produced by the ozone oxidation of oleic acid and makes possible the preparation of high performance terephthalate/glycol based copolyesters, polyamide and polyurethane resins. Recommended products: Emerox® 1144 and Emerox® 1155. Adhesive resins made with Emerox® Azelaic Acids have superior solubility and stability in solvents. Resins incorporating azelaic acid also have lower solution viscosity, which is a highly desired property in the formulation of adhesive systems. See Table 1a,1b and 1c. Polyester and Polyurethane hot melt adhesives prepared with Emerox® Azelaic Acids have better toughness, flexibility and clarity than adhesives produced with other dibasic acids. * Typical Laminating Polyester Adhesive formulation, see Table 4 (overleaf page) Emerox® Azelaic Acid provides improved abrasion resistance and significantly better hydrolytic stability in polyurethane systems compared with adipic acid, see Table 2. Emerox® Azelaic Acid has a lower melting point than commercially available even chain diacids in the C4 – C12 range. This provides the adhesive resins manufacturer the opportunity to use lower reaction temperatures and, this allows for easy adjustment of melting point properties which are of utmost importance for manufacturing light colored end products. See Table 3. Our naturally derived oleochemical-based specialty chemicals serve as environmentally sound, high-performance building blocks for polymers, resins, adhesives and lubricants. Many of our PMT products meet FDA regulations, making them popular choices in food packaging applications. Packaging (paper, film & foil laminates) Automotive (auto air and oil filters, upholstered car seats, construction of sun visors) Textiles (footwear, interlining for labels and emblems) Electronic (television tubes, flexible printed circuit board, coil insulation) Furniture (high pressure laminate,e.g.kitchen cabinets) EMEROX® 1155 Azelaic Acid enhances the properties of a product by: improving flexibility; providing derivatives with lower melting points than derivatives based on even-carbon acids; initiating reactions resulting in higher molecular weight compounds; improving dye receptivity; and providing better solubility characteristics Nylon Engineering Plastics and Fibers Polyester Films and Adhesives Urethane Elastomers and Elastomeric Fibers Lubricant Basestocks Polyester and Polyamide Fibers Wire-Coating Molding Resins Polyamide Hot Melts Naturally based, 9-carbon, saturated, straight chain dibasic acid produced by the ozone oxidation. Used in the formulation of polyester, polyamide and polyurethane hot melt adhesives, solvent-based and reactive adhesives. Provides superior solubility and stability in solvents, low solution viscosity, good toughness, flexibility and clarity, improved abrasion resistance and significantly good hydrolytic stability. Possesses low melting point. Applications: packaging (paper, film and foil laminates), automotive (auto air and oil filters, upholstered car seats, construction of sun visors), textiles (footwear, interlining for labels and emblems), electronic (television tubes, flexible printed circuit board, coil insulation) and furniture (high pressure laminate, e.g.kitchen cabinets).
