Rilanit HT-EZ Modified, treated hydrogenated castor oil Cognis Waxes & Paraffin >> Castor Oil derivative (HCO-wax) Epoxy (EP) SEALANT SEALANT >> Putty Rilanit® HT EZ is a modified, treated hydrogenated castor oil thickening agent for non-aqueous coatings. It is particularly intended for use in paint manufacturing processes involving relatively high working temperatures. Rilanit® HT EZ has been modified to prevent compaction of the dry powder on storage. The improved compaction resistance allows for faster incorporation of the product. Advantages Rilanit® HT EZ offers the following advantages: More effective homogenization under shear Enhanced thermal stability at recommended temperatures Non-compacting on storage Faster incorporation than competitive castor-based products Rilanit® HT EZ produces very good thixotropic effects in solvent based coatings. However, the type of solvent is of decisive importance to its thixotropic behavior. The solvents should mainly consist of mineral spirits and aromatics. A combination with esters, ketones and alcohols is possible up to certain limits. Rilanit® HT EZ is also suitable as a rheology additive for solvent-free systems such as epoxy resin paints, plastisols, caulking compounds, putties and knifing fillers. The advantage of Rilanit® HT EZ is that it tolerates relatively high working temperatures which is particularly evident wherever the solvent consists mainly of white spirit. Rilanit® HT EZ shows optimum temperature stability in coatings based on air-drying alkyd resins. However, temperature stability is somewhat lower in systems formulated mainly with aromatic hydrocarbons, such as paints based on chlorinated rubber, polyvinyl copolymers, chlorinated polyethylene, etc. Modified, treated hydrogenated castor oil. Used as thickening agent in solvent-free caulking compounds and putties. Offers effective homogenization under shear and non-compacting on storage. Provides enhanced thermal stability at recommended temperatures.
