Polytac Amorphous polypropylene Crowley Chemical Polyolefins, amorphous (APO, APAO) Polyolefins (PE, PP) >> Polypropylene & derivatives ADHESIVE >> Hot-melt SEALANT Polytac is a low molecular weight amorphous polypropylene. It has a softening point of about 300oF. Brookfield viscosity @ 375oF is 500-2,500 cps. It is approved as an adhesive for food grade packaging under FDA regulation 21 CFR 175.105. What Are its major applications? Polytac is widely used either neat or formulated in hot melt adhesives, sealants, mastics, and potting compounds where advantage can be taken of its relative low cost, its inertness, and low odor. Higher viscosity grades of Polytac are used in polymer modified asphalt roofing membranes. How is Polytac used in oil and grease formulations? Its tack enables oil to adhere to fast-moving steel in strip mill operations, burning off without stain. It helps grease adhere to chain drives and open gears. Does Polytac accept high levels of inorganic fillers? Yes. It offers unique insulation and acoustical properties to designed items. Amorphous polypropylene. Possesses no reactivity, low odor, low molecular weight and high acceptance levels of inorganic fillers. Provides low cost, high softening point and very good insulation and acoustical properties. Used in hot melt adhesives, food packaging adhesives, asphalt roofing membranes, sealants, mastics, and potting compounds.
