Cymel 406 Melamine formaldehyde resin Cytec Aminoplaste / Phenoplaste (UF, MUF) >> Melamine formaldehyde, MF CYMEL 406 laminating resin is a dry powdered melamine formaldehyde resin specifically designed and formulated to meet the GME requirements of MIL-P-I5037C Specification for electrical grade laminates. Standard GMG (NEMA Grade G-5) glass cloth laminates produced with general pur-pose melamine resins display variable electrical proper-ties, especially following long term exposure to wet con-ditions. CYMEL 406 resin, when used in the recommended man-ner, provides laminates consistently surpassing the mini-mum requirements of the above specification, which calls for significant improvement in dielectric breakdown strength, parallel to laminations, following a two-week immersion in warm water. The very substantial improve-ment in flexural strength and lower water absorption over regular GMG suggests a more perfect bond between resin and glass-fiber surface than has been possible before. The improved resin also provides superior bath stability and is not as sensitive to press curing conditions as gen-eral purpose melamine resins. CYMEL 406 resin provides the same high degree of flame, heat and arc resistance as GMG laminates. In addition, greater mechanical strength, better water resis-tance, higher volume and surface resistivity, and much improved wet dielectric strength are realized for GME laminates manufactured with CYMEL 406 resin. Suggested applications include circuit breakers, arc chutes, fuse tubes and covers, standoff insulators, buss bar insulators and transformer cores. Dry powdered melamine formadehyde. Offers superior bath stability and resistance to press curing. Provides high degree of flame, heat and arc resistance, great mechanical strength, good water resistance, high volume and surface resistivity, and improved wet dielectric strength.
