Blox 200 Series Epoxy based Dow Chemical Epoxide (EP) ADHESIVE >> Hot-melt New thermoplastic resins with high performance adhesion Excellent physical, optical, and gas barrier properties Available in wide range of viscosities Applications include powder coating, paper coating, starch-based loose fill, polymer additives Biodegradable version available BLOX* 200 Series Adhesive Resins are part of a new family of epoxybased thermoplastics. These amorphous materials exhibit excellent adhesion to a variety of substrates, good gas barrier, superior mechanical toughness and stiffness, and highquality optical clarity and color. Due to the flexibility in chemistry and processing, BLOX Adhesive Resins have found utility in a variety of applications. In powder coatings, BLOX Resins have replaced high performance nylons as well as other polymers. In starch-based loose fill applications, these resins are more cost effective than PVA (polyvinyl alcohol). Within the BLOX Adhesive Resin series, products have comparable properties to other phenoxies, such as PKHH (Paphen™ Phenoxy Resins) used in coatings and adhesives, but with improved economics. Additionally, BLOX Adhesive Resins are available in a biodegradable version and should be considered as an alternative to other biodegradable polymers like PVA and PCL (polycaprolactone). To meet a variety of application requirements, BLOX 200 Series Adhesive Resins are optimized to provide superior adhesion and are available in a wide range of viscosities. BLOX 200 Series Adhesive Resins exhibit excellent adhesion to metal, glass, polar polymers like PET and nylon, and cellulosics (such as wood, paper, cotton, and starch). Specially formulated for coating applications such as powder coatings and extrusion coatings, these resins offer numerous opportunities where adhesion, toughness, processability, or clarity are priorities. Coating properties can vary depending on application; BLOX 200 Series Adhesive Resins can be placed in solution by using polar solvents such as DMF, THF (with the addition of 1-3% water), and propylene glycol-based Dowanol* DPM or PM, or by using a low-molecular weight organic acid solution, such as acetic acid. BLOX Resins can also be dispersed and applied. BLOX Adhesive Resins offer superior adhesion, durability and clarity. These resins are currently used in loose-fill packaging and powder coating applications, and are also targeted for other coating applications, hot-melt adhesives, adhesion promoters and polymer additives. In loose-fill packaging applications, BLOX Adhesive Resins provide outstanding adhesion to cellulosic materials, allowing for the manufacture of starch-based foams that can compete with polystyrene loose-fill packaging. Two companies already realizing the benefits of using BLOX Adhesive Resins for loose-fill packaging applications are American Excelsior and Starch Tech. These companies use BLOX Resins to manufacture tough foams that incorporate a high percentage of starch. In addition, these companies have found that the consistency of BLOX Resins allows for easy processing. For powder coating applications, BLOX Adhesive Resins provide excellent adhesion to plastic, wood, metal and glass. In these applications, BLOX Resins also offer outstanding durability and flexibility. Adhesive epoxy based thermoplastic resin. Offers very good adhesion to a variety of substrates (metal, glass, polar polymers like PET and nylon, and cellulosics (wood, paper, cotton, and starch). Provides good gas barrier, superior mechanical toughness and stiffness, and high quality optical clarity and color. Used in hot melt adhesives.
