Elvaloy PTW Ethylene copolymer containing epoxy functionality DuPont Ethylene co-terpolymers - solid (EVA, EMA) >> Epoxidized >> EBA/GMA Elvaloy® PTW is an ethylene copolymer containing epoxy functionality that is a good toughener for polyester polymers. Elvaloy® PTW has several outstanding features. These include: Excellent adhesion to polyester because of its epoxy functionality. Good low temperature properties due to its Tg of -55°C. Elvaloy® PTW contains glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) which provides the epoxy functionality and excellent adhesion. It also contains nButyl Acrylate (nBA) which provides very good low temperature properties. Using Elvaloy® PTW as a polyester toughener A toughened polyester is better than the straight polyester resin in some properties but it is also worse in some areas. Polyester properties that improve: Higher notched izod (room temperature and at 0°C) Higher Dynatup value (room temperature and at 0°C) Higher elongation Polyester properties that are reduced: Lower flex modulus Lower tensile strength Higher viscosity (longer cycle time) Ethylene copolymer containing epoxy functionality. Contains glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) and nButyl acrylate (nBA). Used as a good toughener for polyester polymers. Provides very good adhesion to polyester and good low temperature properties. Improves notched izod, Dynatup value and elongation. Reduces flex modulus and tensile strength.
