Calprene 500 Thermoplastic butadiene and styrene copolymer Dynasol Styrene block copolymer (SBC) >> Styrene butadiene styrene rubber, SBS ADHESIVE >> Hot-melt ADHESIVE >> Hot-melt >> Pressure sensitive (HMPSA) ADHESIVE >> Solvent based Calprene 500 is a 70/30 Butadiene/Styrene Thermoplastic Copolymer, polymerized in solution and having a linear structure. This product is presented in pellet form and has excellent optical properties, due to its clarity. It is stabilized with a non staining antioxidant system FDA approved for use in food contact applications and is essentially gel free with a very clear color. C-500 is used in adhesive formulation, in thermoplastic injected shoe sole formulations, and transparent compounds. Besides the ease with which they may be dissolved, thermoplastic rubbers present a considerable advantage: they do not need to be cured to develop their adhesive properties. This rubber network remains unchanged until the polystyrene is dissolved or softened by heating, giving rise to the two methods (applying a solvent or heat) used to lessen the viscosity of these rubbers which may be utilized as adhesives. Once the temperature of polystyrene goes below its softening point, or when the solvent evaporates, the rubber structure is reestablished. Some of the applications in which our Solprene® and Calprene® thermoplastic rubbers in solvent-based adhesives are used are high-resistant, non-cured adhesives and contact cements, among others. Due to their high cohesive strength, thermoplastic polymers are widely used in pressure-sensitive adhesive formulations. These adhesives are used in products such as masking tape, cellophane tape, insulating tape, tapes for sealing and binding, decorative contact paper and labels. Some recent applications are used for installing tiles and other heavy objects. Pressure-sensitive adhesives may be used on cloth, paper, films and sheet metal. The latter two are normally covered with a thin layer of fixative to improve the bonding of the adhesive. Formulations which only use natural rubber tend to soften over time, while those using SBRs become hard as a result of oxidization. Hot melt adhesives Medium viscosity, great resistance, track and peel, Excellent shear and great cohesive strength. PSA, disposables, bookbinding 70/30 butadiene/styrene thermoplastic copolymer, polymerized in solution. Used in solvent borne, pressure-sensitive and hot melt adhesives. Possesses a linear structure and very good optical properties. Can be easily dissolved. Does not need to be cured to develop its adhesive properties. Offers adhesion to cloth, paper, films and sheet metal for PSA. Provides medium viscosity, great resistance, tack and peel, very good shear and great cohesive strength in hot melt adhesives. Applications: solvent-based adhesives (high-resistant, non-cured adhesives, contact cements), pressure sensitive adhesives (masking tape, cellophane tape, insulating tape, tapes for sealing and binding, decorative contact paper and labels) and hot melt adhesives(disposables, bookbinding).
