Its solubility, excellent pigment-wetting characteristics, and wide compatibility with natural and synthetic polymers make it useful in a variety of applications, including hot-melt, pressure-sensitive and emulsion adhesives, and printing inks. Resinous, tacky; wide range of solubility and compatibility; pale color and good color retention; excellent pigment wetting. Compatible at all ratios, or in limited but practically useful proportions, with nitrocellulose, ethylcellulose, chlorinated rubber, polyvinylchloride, vinylacetate-chloride copolymers, polyvinylbutyral, polyethylene, natural and synthetic rubbers, EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate), SIS,SBS and SEBS (styrene block copolymers),shellac, vegetable oils, and waxes. Partially compatible with acrylic polymers. Incompatible with cellulose acetate, polyvinylacetate, casein. Soluble in ester, ketones, higher alcohols, coal tar, petroleum hydrocarbons. Insoluble in water, methanol, ethanol and ethylene glycol. Solubility Parameters, 50% resin concentration. 7,0-11,1 in Class I solvents - weakly hydrogen-bonded; 7,4-10,0 in Class II solvents - moderately hydrogen-bonded; 9,5-11,9 in Class III solvents - strongly hydrogen-bonded. Tackifier Tapes pressure-sensitive adhesives hot melt adhesives Synthetic resin. Phthalate ester of technical hydroabietyl alcohol. Pale, tacky, low-softening-point resin. Its solubility, excellent pigment-wetting characteristics, and wide compatibility with natural and synthetic polymers make it useful in a variety of applications, including hot-melt, pressure-sensitive and emulsion adhesives, and printing inks. Possesses resinous properties, tackiness, wide range of solubility and compatibility, pale color and good color retention and excellent pigment wetting. Compatible at all ratios, or in limited but practically useful proportions, with nitrocellulose, ethylcellulose, chlorinated rubber, polyvinylchloride, vinylacetate-chloride copolymers, polyvinylbutyral, polyethylene, natural and synthetic rubbers, shellac, vegetable oils, and waxes. Partially compatible with acrylic polymers. Incompatible with cellulose acetate, polyvinylacetate, casein. Applications : transparent and pressure-sensitive tapes.
