Stereon 210 Butadiene-styrene copolymer Firestone Styrene copolymer >> Styrene butadiene rubber, SBR ADHESIVE Firestone's products are solution polymerized butadiene-styrene multi-block copolymers. Stereon products are finished in small uniform non-blocking pellets. The use of Stereon polymer provides the adhesive compounder with a versatile base for producing a wide range of adhesives. Stereon polymers provide: Consistent Quality Ease of Handling Wide Variety of Packaging Convenient Pellet Form Stereon polymers impart unique properties to adhesive components: High Cohesive Strength Low Application Viscosity Ease of Mixing Low Color Heat Stability Compatible with a Wide Range of Tackifiers Compatible with a Wide Range of Oils and Plasticizers Because of their excellent balance of performance properties, Stereon polymers have been found to be an excellent base for a multitude of adhesive applications: Non-woven Adhesives Industrial Adhesives Book Binding Scratch-off Adhesives/Coatings Formulating Adhesives with Stereon Polymers Stereon polymers can be used with a great range of resins, oils, plasticizers and antioxidants. Stereon polymers provide an excellent base for developing many types of adhesive compounds. Tackifying Resins Stereon polymers are compatible with a variety of tackifying resins; for example, modified terpene, hydrocarbon, and rosin ester types. These resins allow a great latitude in formulating adhesives based on Stereon. An excellent balance of tack, peel, shear adhesion, cohesive strength, color, cost and adhesive viscosity can be obtained in adhesives based on Stereon polymers by using one of many different types of resins. Plasticizers Oils can be added to Stereon based adhesives to improve processability and tack properties. Stereon polymers can be plasticized with naphthenic, paraffinic, aromatic, and mineral oils. Color of the resulting formulation, final properties, and FDA requirements will determine whether these oils can be utilized in specific applications. Antioxidants During compounding and application, some adhesives may be heated to high temperatures. It is important to protect the adhesive compound from degradation. Stereon polymers are produced with sufficient antioxdant to provide protection during their manufacture, shipment and storage. Additional antioxidants can be added to further stabilize the adhesive compound during processing. The choice of antioxidant or antioxidant combination must be determined by the formulator Polymerized butadiene-styrene diblock copolymer. Used in a wide range of adhesives. Provides high cohesive strength, low application viscosity, ease of mixing, low color and heat stability. Offers compatibility with a wide range of tackifiers, oils and plasticizers. Applications: non-woven, industrial adhesives, book binding and scratch-off adhesives.
