Hitac RA-13 Hitac Adhesives and Coatings Release Agents Acrylics/ Acrylates Styrene block copolymers, SBC (SBS, SIS, SEBS...) Styrene copolymers Natural rubber (NR) ADHESIVE >> Hot-melt >> Pressure sensitive (HMPSA) ADHESIVE >> Water-based ADHESIVE >> Water-based >> Pressure sensitive (PSA) Second-generation aqueous release agent having the following unmatched features: high total solids no NMP or other VOC-by products Hitac RA-13 is a second-generation* cost-effective release agent containing no NMP. RA-13 is solvent-free and effective for providing easy release and low noise on fast unwinds with high adhesion and high tack adhesives based on block copolymers, such as the ones used in polypropylene-backed packaging tapes, filament tapes and diaper tapes. It is also effective with natural rubber and SBR base adhesives and some acrylics. Typical tape backings used with RA-13 are corona treated polypropylene, corona treated polyethylene, polyester, PVC, latex impregnated paper and others. Differential release liners can be manufactured by using the easy release grade RA-13 with the moderate release grade RA-12. Coater-ready solutions are easily prepared by adding RA-13 to water, preferably deionized, while mixing, to yield a solution with 0.5-5% total solids, depending on the adhesive, substrate and coating method. This can be Meyer bar #6-12, rotogravure roll #160-250 and stacked smooth rolls. Recommendation for initial laboratory evaluation: Draw down a 3% T.S solution with a #6 Meyer rod and dry horizontally in air oven at 160°F (70°C) for 15 min. Dry coating weights are 0.05-0.5 g/sqm. Release properties develop by simply flashing off water at 100-250°F (40-120°C), depending on web speed, oven length, dry air temperature, dry air velocity and other configurations. It is important to achieve complete drying even though there is no curing mechanism involved. The coating is dry when it resists moderate finger rub. Second-generation, NMP-free, VOC-free, aqueous release agent. Possesses high total solids. Provides easy release and low noise on fast unwinds with high adhesion and high tack adhesives based on block copolymers for polypropylene-backed packaging, filament and diaper tapes, and in pressure sensitive adhesives based on natural rubber, SBR and some acrylics. Used with typical tape backings like corona treated polypropylene, corona treated polyethylene, polyester, PVC, latex impregnated paper and others.
