Nuosept 101 4,4 - Dimethyloxazolidine International Specialty Products Preservatives / Biocides / Fungicides ADHESIVE >> Water-based SEALANT NUOSEPT® 101 is a liquid, non-metallic, non-chlorinated, organic biocide used as an effective preservative for the protection of water-based products against microbiological spoilage in the wet state. Typical applications include the preservation of resins, emulsion paints, adhesives, dispersed colors, pigment slurries and ready-mix joint cements. 4,4 - Dimethyloxazolidine NUOSEPT 101 was specifically developed to protect aqueous materials against microbial attack during storage in the wet state. It is used to preserve both raw materials as well as finished product. Due to its low viscosity and complete solubility in water, NUOSEPT® 101 can be easily incorporated at any point in the manufacturing operation. It can be added by a chemical metering pump or by conventional liquid measure. Suggested use levels vary from 0.1% to 0.5% based on total weight of the formulation. Recommended use levels for some typical applications are listed. Resin Emulsions: 0.05%-0.2% To protect and preserve resin emulsions, the recommended concentration is based on total weight of system. This level will generally prevent bacterial spoilage from occurring throughout the emulsion's useful service, which includes transit and storage. The point of preservative addition should be in the cool-down cycle. Where added quantities of NUOSEPT® 101 preservative are required, it can be safely post-added. Latex Paints: 0.1%-0.3% NUOSEPT® 101 can easily be incorporated during any phase of paint manufacture. We recommend adding NUOSEPT® 101 immediately after the initial charge of water. At recommended use levels, no adverse physical paint properties have been observed. Adhesives: 0.1%-0.5% Dispersed Colors: 0.1%-0.3% Ready-Mix Joint Cements: 0.1%-0.25% Caulks & Sealants 0.1%-0.25% Spackling Compounds 0.1%-0.25% Tile Adhesives 0.1%-0.5% Grouts 0.1%-0.25% NUOSEPT® 101 has antimicrobial activity against a broad spectrum of micro-organisms. Listed below are some Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations (MIC) of NUOSEPT® 101 against various microorganisms. This list is provided to show the broad spectrum activity of NUOSEPT® 101 and is not to be construed as a listing of organisms associated with the spoilage of any water-based system. The minimum inhibitory ranges shown are the highest concentrations showing growth and the lowest concentrations showing no growth. Liquid, non-metallic, non-chlorinated, organic biocide. Used as an effective preservative in adhesives, tile adhesives, caulks and sealants. Offers protection of water-based products against microbiological spoilage in the wet state. Possesses low viscosity and complete solubility in water. Use level: 0.1 - 0.5%.
