As epoxy hardeners they provide improved use temperatures, moisture absorption and impact resistance. Areas of use are coatings, aerospace, automotive and the general industry. Lonzacure DETDA 80 is an excellent and low cost chain extender for elastomeric polyurethanes (PU) and also a curing agent for epoxides (EP). In addition it may be used as an intermediate for organic syntheses. PU formulations based on DEDTA 80 are suitable for cast elastomers, RIM elastomers, RRIM elastomers, coatings and adhesives. In EP it is suitable for laminates, prepregs, tooling, potting, coatings for concrete and filament winding. low viscosity liquid, hydrolytic stability, for hot and cold cast elastomers, low Heat Sag in MDI-based RIM systems excellent chemical stability against acidic and basic reagents, high Tg (up to 175°C with Bis-phenol A epoxy and 220°C with Novolac epoxy, long potlife, lower toxicity than MDA Diethyltoluenediamine. Used as a chain extender for elastomeric polyurethanes and as a curing agent for epoxides. Provides low viscosity, hydrolytic stability and high thermomechanical, chemical and abrasion resistance in polyurethanes. Offers very good chemical stability against acidic and basic reagents, high Tg, long pot life, moisture absorption and impact resistance in epoxides.
