They provide improved chemical and mechanical resistance and wheatherability by chemical crosslinking after the application. Areas of use are water based and high solids acrylic formulations in construction, flooring, automotive and others. Lonzamon AAEMA PQ is a special methacrylic ester monomer with a reactive methylene group. It is used as a copolymer for coatings and adhesives in emulsion polymerisation (waterborne dispersions) or solvent polymerisation (high solids). Lonzamon AAEMA PQ provides improved mechanical and solvent resistance against water or organic solvents e.g. alcohols, which cannot be achieved with standard formulations. In addition it acts as an adhesion promotor to metallic, mineral and wood surfaces. Mainly Lonzamon AAEMA PQ is used as a copolymer with acrylates and styrene acrylates or as a styrene replacement in unsaturated polyesters (UP). The low acid number is essential in metal primer applications (high solids). Adhesives crosslinks with aliphatic diamines 2-(Acetoacetoxy)ethyl methacrylate. Used as a copolymer with acrylates and styrene acrylates in adhesives. Provides improved mechanical and solvent resistance against water or organic solvents. Possesses a low acid number. Crosslinks with aliphatic diamines. Acts as an adhesion promotor to metallic, mineral and wood surfaces. Can be used as a styrene replacement in unsaturated polyesters.
