Alcogum L-38 Latex 25212-88-8 National Starch and Chemical-Alco Chemical Rheology Modifiers / Thickeners >> Alkali-Soluble (associative) Acrylics/ Acrylates PU - Prepolymers ADHESIVE ALCOGUMâ„¢ polymers are pre-activated high molecular weight rheology modifiers used to viscosify a wide range of adhesive compounds. ALCOGUM thickeners provide stable viscosity over a broad pH range and are resistant to biological degradation. ALCOGUM L-38 is a reactive, acidic thickening agent of the type commonly referred to as an insitu thickener. It is supplied as a stable anionic milky white liquid latex emulsion. The addition of any of a variety of alkaline agents results in the neutralization of the acidic groups and the formation of a clear, viscous solution. This solution is an effective thickener for many systems, including various synthetic latexes, latex compounds and latex coatings. In paper coating colors, ALCOGUM L-38 develops low shear viscosity effectively while also building water retention. ALCOGUM L-38 also contributes to higher Hercules high shear viscosity. For neutralization purposes, ALCOGUM L-38 has an equivalent weight of 12.7(a). Reactive, acidic, stable, milky white anionic latex emulsion. Forms a clear, viscous solution in addition with alkaline agents. Used as a thickener in various latexes. Develops low shear viscosity and building water retention. Contributes to higher Hercules high shear viscosity. Provides stable viscosity over a broad pH range. Offers resistance to biological degradation.
