Rhenogran CaO-80 Calcium oxide Rhein Chemie Driers / Dessicants Rubber - Elastomer (Chloroprene, Butyl …) SEALANT Rhenogran® CaO-80 Desiccant for rubber compounds of all kinds to prevent porosity. 80% calcium oxide 20% elastomer binder and dispersing agents Rhenogran CaO-80 is a desiccant provided in polymerbound granules. The thermoplastic character of the polymer binder which is compatible with all conventional elastomers as well as the incorporated special dispersing agents guarantee a quick absorption and an excellent dispersion in the rubber. Calcium oxide binds the moisture by the formation of calcium hydroxide. The enables the production of vulcanizates to be cured without pressure and which, otherwise, even in using vacuum extruders, show porosity due to the moisture still present in the compounds. This is why Rhenogran CaO-80 is preferably used in extrusion compounds which have to be cured continously either in open air, fluid beds, salt baths or in the UHF equipment. Rhenogran CaO-80 an also be recommended for the use in expanded compounds, particulary in microcellular rubber, because Rhenogran CaO-80 provides a more uniform cell structure. The usual dosage is between 2 and 10 phr.
