They: Improve the tack of green compounds Promote filler incorporation Enhance consistency Reduce compound viscosity Improve compound homogenity Enable high Shore hardnesses to be obtained Enhance the physical properties of vulcanizates, e.g. by improving the wet skid properties of tyres Rhenosin® P 0790 K 03 Reinforcing resin for solid rubbers Phenol formaldehyde resin (Novolak) without hardener. For Rhenosin P 0790 K 03 to be fully effective, approx. 10 % hardener (Rhenogran Hexa 80) should be added. Rhenosin P 0790 K 03 is most effective as a hardener in NR, SBR, BR, NBR and EPDM. Mix viscosity increases in NR, SBR, BR and EPDM but decreases in NBR. Scorch and vulcanization characteristics are not affected by the phenol resin itself. The addition of hardeners reduces the scorch time and changes the vulcanization pattern. Because the hardener acts as a powerful accelerator, Rhenosin P 0790 K 03 is not suitable for use in CR. When used as directed, Rhenosin P 0790 K 03 significantly increases vulcanizate hardness. Tensile strength is slightly reduced and elongation at break increased by the hardener system. Modulus is also increased, except in SBR. 5 - 15 phr For hard and very hard vulcanizates such as Apex compounds in radial tyres, floor coverings, typewriter and paper rollers, heels, soling sheets, oil- resistant seals, brake linings, solid hose material. Phenol formaldehyde resin (Novolak). Used as a reinforcing resin in solid rubbers for oil- resistant seals. Possesses efficiency as a hardener in NR, SBR, BR and EPDM to increase mix viscosity and in NBR to decrease mix viscosity. Increases vulcanizate hardness. Can be used in combination with a hardener to reduce scorch time and tensile strength, change vulcanization pattern, and increase elongation at break. Use level: 5-15 phr.
