Diacetone alcohol (DAA) 4-Hydroxy-4-methyl-2-pentanone 123-42-2 Shell Chemicals Solvents >> Alcohol Solvents >> Ketones Vegetable based Epoxy (EP) Polyesters Polyvinyl acetate emulsions & derivatives (PVAcā¦) Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) ADHESIVE Diacetone alcohol is a clear, colourless, high boiling, slow evaporating liquid. It is both a ketone and alcohol and is miscible with water and most organic solvents, and will dissolve oils, fats, tars, dyes, waxes, and crude rubber. Because diacetone alcohol is both a ketone and alcohol, it is a good solvent for cellulose ethers and esters, polyvinyl chloride-acetate, epoxy resins and many natural and synthetic lacquer resins including some of the vinyl types. Diacetone alcohol is miscible with water and most organic solvents, and will dissolve oils, fats, tars, dyes, waxes, and crude rubber. The more important applications for this solvent are in surface coatings to improve blush resistance and flow-out properties, and in penta-chlorophenol wood preservative solutions. Other applications for diacetone alcohol include crop protection formulations, adhesives, printing inks, blanket washes and as a chemical intermediate. Diacetone alcohol is not recommended for coating applications intended to come into contact with food or other compounds containing sulphur. Clear, colourless, high boiling, slow evaporating diacetone alcohol. Used in adhesives. Offers dissolution of oils, fats, tars, dyes, waxes, and crude rubber. Used as a good solvent for cellulose ethers and esters, polyvinyl chloride-acetate, epoxy resins and many natural and synthetic lacquer resins including some of the vinyl types. Improves blush resistance and flow-out properties.
