Daotan VTW 1236/40WANMP Polyurethane Solutia PU - Polyurethane dispersions (PUDs) DAOTAN® Waterborne polyurethane with solvent-borne performance. The DAOTAN VTW family of waterborne polyurethane dispersions meets or exceeds the performance of high quality solvent-borne urethanes in a variety of industrial applications, while offering the ability to create a low volatile organic compound (VOC) formulation (<350 grams per liter of VOC). Uses DAOTAN VTW formulations are used in the following applications: Demanding metal applications such as high-performance wall paints, implement enamels, aircraft coatings High-performance floor coatings Secondary containment coatings Anti-graffiti coatings Metal clearcoats Industrial maintenance coatings Automotive and non-automotive transportation coatings Performance Advantages The unique polymer creates very hard films with several performance advantages over solvent-borne urethane. Key features of DAOTAN VTW for waterborne paints and coatings include: Quick drying Quick hardness development Excellent durability Excellent weatherability Good flow and leveling High gloss Excellent stability Superior mar and scratch resistance Excellent adhesion to metal and wood substrates Excellent adhesion to cement substrates and epoxy topcoats and primers Chemical and abrasion resistance Flexibility Hardnes DAOTAN VTW 1236/40WANMP Aqueous aliphatic polyurethane dispersion based on polycarbonate 40 % in water/N-methyl pyrrolidone (40WANMP) ca. 1.1 % triethyl amine, as salt Daotan VTW 1236 is a polyurethane dispersion which dries at room temperature without further coalescing agents or additives to clear, crack-free, water resistant and highly flexible films. The dispersion has a high shear stability and a good pigment compatibility. This allows Daotan VTW 1236 to be used to formulate highly flexible coating systems, especially for coating plastics. Such systems exhibit very good adhesive properties e.g. to polycarbonate, ABS, polyamide, PUR-RIM, as well as pretreated PP/EPDM. The adhesion to each plastic substrate requires individual investigation. Special emphasis is given to its impact behaviour at low temperatures. Daotan VTW 1236 has also been developed for water based printing inks. They are mainly sued for the production of flexographic and special gravure inks because of the good adhesion to rigid and flexible PVC films. Due to these escellent adhesion properties Daotan VTW 1236 is particularly suitable for interlayer printing. Daotan VTW 1236 is compatible with the pure acrylic dispersions Mowilith DM 772, DM 774, LDM 7760, DM 799 and DM 791 as well as with small proportions of water dilutable melamine resins, e.g. Maprenal MF 900 w and MF 920 w. Such additions improve scrub resistance. Blending of Daotan VTW 1236 with acrylic dispersions or Viaktin VTE 6155 w/50 WA is useful to improve flexibility, adhesion and abrasion resistance in comparison with films only based on acrylic dispersions. Aqueous aliphatic polyurethane dispersion based on polycarbonate. Provides quick drying, quick hardness development, very good durability and weatherability, good flow and leveling, high gloss, very good stability and superior mar and scratch resistance. Offers chemical and abrasion resistance, very good flexibility, hardness, high shear stability and good pigment compatibility. Gives very good adhesion to metal and wood substrates, to cement substrates, to epoxy topcoats and primers, to polycarbonate, ABS, polyamide, PUR-RIM, pretreated PP/EPDM and to rigid and flexible PVC films. Possesses compatibility pure acrylic dispersions and water dilutable melamine resins.
