Viacryl SC 120/50WS Plasticized acrylic copolymer Solutia Acrylics/ Acrylates VIACRYL® Acrylic Copolymer Resins The VIACRYL® resin family comprises three main product classes differing in the mechanism of film formation: Thermoplastic resins, basically not containing reactive groups Thermosetting resins, reacting at elevated temperature with suitable hardeners or crosslinkers like melamine, benzoguanamine, or urea resins Self-crosslinking resins, reticulating at ambient or elevated temperature Both solvent borne and water borne VIACRYL grades are available, the latter being either primary dispersions (i.e. polymerized directly in water), or secondary emulsions (i.e. emulsified in water after polymerisation has been accomplished). Viacryl SC 120 contains a high molecular gel to improve rheological quality. Viacryl SC 120 is an acrylic copolymer drying through evaporation of the solvent without any chemical reaction. The macromolecules of this binder carry plasticizing components providing durable flexibility. Thus no additional plasticizers need be used. Furthermore, Viacryl SC 120 contains a high molecular gel to improve the rheological properties. Highly pigmented paints with this binder show very good levelling, even if containing agents conveying thixotropic properties. Viacry SC 120 is designed as sole binder for highly pigmented paints for exterior and interior walls, eternit, cement and concrete and also for plasterings and renderings.
