Min-u-sil 5 Silicon dioxide U.S. Silica Company Extenders / Fillers >> Silica Epoxy (EP) Silicones (Si) SEALANT is a high purity, high quality natural crystalline silica that is available exclusively through U. S. Silica. This ground silica sand is inherently inert, white, bright, has low moisture and is at least 99.2% SiO2. MIN-U-SIL® is available in five uniform size distributions; 5, 10, 15, 30 and 40 micron. They feature unmatched fineness and consistency of particle size due to a special processing technique developed by U.S. Silica. Special processing techniques assure controlled particle size distribution, which means elimination of excessive coarse and fine particles. These properties, combined with inertness and inherently low cost, make MIN-U-SIL® the best quality filler/extender for a range of applications including paints and coatings, sealants, silicone rubber and epoxy. Architectural, Industrial and Traffic Paints and Coatings In all types of paints and coatings, the hardness and inertness of silica yields improved resistance to wear, burnish, abrasion and stains. MIN-U-SIL Ground Silica, with its narrow size distribution and bright white color, minimizes resin demand and yields excellent color acceptance. It is also a low cost filler and extender that can replace up to 50% TiO2. Thermoset Plastics The heat resistance, low thermal expansion, chemical resistance and high dielectric strength of silica make it an excellent filler choice for a variety of thermoset plastic applications. The narrow and consistent size distribution of MIN-U-SIL Ground Silica allows for extremely high loadings. Silicone Rubber In silicone rubber, MIN-U-SIL Ground Silica is an excellent semi-reinforcing filler. Its inert nature and high dielectric strength make it an excellent filler in electrical compounds. The consistent pH and narrow size distributions allow very high loading with minimal effect on viscosity and cure rate. Inert, high purity, high quality, natural crystalline silica. Used in sealants. Possesses narrow and consistent size distribution, consistent pH, white color, low moisture content, low thermal expansion, heat resistance, chemical resistance, high dielectric strength, and very high loading with minimal effect on viscosity and cure rate.
