Atphos 3202 Anionic NP-6EO phosphate ester Uniqema Surfactants Surfactants >> Phosphate esters Aminoplaste & Phenoplastes (UF, MUF...) ADHESIVE >> Water-based ADHESIVE >> Water-based >> Pressure sensitive (PSA) Advantages of the by Uniqema recommended emulsifiers: Highly efficient: The recommended emulsifiers can be used at low concentrations: i.e. 5-10 % w/w calculated on the resin content. Emulsions with low particle sizes (ca 250 nanometer) and with a narrow droplet size distribution can thus be obtained. These emulsions have an excellent long term stability under different storage conditions (> 1 year in the temperature range from +5°C to + 50°C; good freeze / thaw stability). Suited for the inversion process: The recommended emulsifiers are all suited for use in the emulsion inversion point (EIP) method at temperatures of emulsification ranging from room temperature up to 95°C. VOC-free: None of the surfactants or surfactant solutions recommended by Uniqema contain volatile organic compounds. Furthermore there is no need to use solvents or cosolvents in the emulsification process. NPE-free surfactants: All our newly developed surfactants are nonylphenol free. Highly compatible: The recommended emulsifiers are all fully compatible with the other components of the end formulations (e.g. paint formulations, tackifier resin emulsions for pressure sensitive adhesives). FDA clearance: All the emulsifiers recommended by Uniqema for adhesive applications are cleared for use under FDA 21 CFR 175.105. Alkyd resin emulsification Numerous alkyd resins based on different oil or fatty acid sources, with oil lengths ranging from approximately 30 % to 80 % where emulsified via the EIP method. The emulsification parameters were each time adapted to resin characteristics (e.g. resin viscosity). Based on this experience, Uniqema is able to recommended the following emulsifiers: Nonionic surfactants Atsurf 3969: Propriety nonionic surfactants blend to be used alone as single emulsifier or in combination with the anionic surfactant Atlas G-3300B in mix ratio's (Atsurf 3969 / Atlas G-3300B) from 100 / 0 to 75 / 25. Tackifier resin emulsification Increasing environmental pressures forced specific segments of the adhesive markets to adopt solventless technologies. Tackifier resin emulsions are now considered as a viable alternative to the conventional systems. The emulsification of tackifier resins requires the use of highly hydrophilic emulsifiers. It is often advantageous to neutralise the resin and the emulsifier (some surfactants are delivered under their acidic form). Tackifier resins are best emulsified at a pH of the resultant emulsion of about 6 to 8. To do so the neutralising agent (amine or hydroxide) is added to (and blended in thoroughly into) the resin/emulsifier mixtures before starting the emulsification. Recommended surfactants for tackifier resin emulsification Anionic emulsifiers Atphos 3202: NP-6-EO phosphoric acid ester VOC-free, NPE-free, anionic NP-6-EO phosphoric acid ester. Used as a highly hydrophilic emulsifier for alkyd resin and tackifier resin emulsions for adhesives. Offers high efficiency, very good long term stability and high compatibility. Can be used alone as single emulsifier or in combination with the anionic surfactants.
