Vinavil HC Polyvinyl acetate copolymer Vinavil Polyvinyl acetate emulsions & derivatives (PVAcā¦) >> PVAc homopolymers ADHESIVE >> Water-based VINAVIL HC is an anionic aqueous dipersion of a self crosslinkable vinylacetate copolymer, with a low free formaldehyde content, without plasticizers and nonylphenol surfactants. - Binder for synthetic waddings - Binder for needle-punched nonwoven fabrics - Resin treatment of velvet and artificial furs - Permanent fabric sizings VINAVIL HC is a vinyl-acrylic copolymer with stiff handle very suitable as binder for waddings used for insulation, for filtration, in furnishing and in clothing fields, etc., thanks to its good crosslinkability. VINAVIL HC may be applied by spreading, spraying, impregnation or as foam. The foam can be increased by adding foaming agent and/or foam stabilizer. Crosslinkage VINAVIL HC shows self-crosslinking behaviour without the aid of either crosslinking agents or catalysts. The optimum crosslinking condition is achieved in a convection forced air oven, at 140°C, or higher temperature, for 1 minute. Crosslinking may be accelerated by the addition of 0.1 ÷1.0% of citric acid or diammonium phosphate or ammonium cloride. Crosslinking gives the film very good water and clorinated solvents resistance and improves its mechanical strength. Thickening VINAVIL HC is moderately compatible with commonly used thickeners like celluloses and polyacrylic acid derivatives. The effectiveness and compatibility should always be therefore tested. We recommend to only use ammonia to adjust the pH, to avoid the inhibition of the curing process. Compatibility with additives VINAVIL HC is compatible with commonly used defoaming agents, with plasticizers, reactive resins, e.g. melamine resins, fillers and pigments usually used in the manufacturing processes: its compatibility should always be tested. We recommend to only use pH neutral fillers and pigments to avoid the inhibition of the crosslinking reaction. Self crosslinkable vinylacetate copolymer. Contains an anionic emulsifying systme. Possesses low free formaldehyde content, without plasticizers and nonylphenol surfactants. Provides a film with very good water and clorinated solvents resistance, very good mechanical stability and compatibility with pigments and fillers. Improves mechanical strength. Used in heat seal adhesives. Applications: binder for synthetic waddings and for needle-punched nonwoven fabrics.
