Vinnapas LL 5050 Vinyl acetate/vinyl ester/ethylene terpolymer Wacker Ethylene copolymers - emulsions (VAE, EVC) ADHESIVE SEALANT Vinnapas® LL 5050 is a water-redispersible vinyl acetate/vinyl ester/ethylene terpolymer powder that exhibits very good resistance to saponification. Be-cause of its relatively high ethylene content, this resin is soft and flexible. Its glass transition temperature is below freezing point. This redispersible powder is especially recommended for blending with inorganic binders such as cement, anhydrite, gypsum and hydrated lime, or as a sole binder for making construction adhesives and seals. Vinnapas LL 5050 enhances the adhesion, flexural strength, plasticity, abrasion resistance and work-ability of modified compounds without appreciably affecting flow, thixotropy or water retention. It is therefore compatible with mortar additives used to achieve special processing characteristics. This redispersible powder features high plasticity (if added in quantities of over 5% of total weight) even at extremely low temperatures, and adhesion to a very broad spectrum of different substrates. It is especially well suited for cementitious formula-tions with a high polymer-cement factor, for highly flexible tile adhesives and waterproof, highly flexible seals. Vinnapas® LL 5050 contains a mineral filler as anti-blocking agent. It is free of solvents, plasticizers and film-forming aids. Vinnapas® LL 5050 is especially recommended for obtaining trowelling compounds that show high plas-ticity and good adhesion to smooth and organic sub-strates. These trowelling compounds have good ad-hesion to such substrates as rigid PVC, expanded polystyrene and polyurethane. A waterproofing effect is achieved by adding Vinnapas® LL 5050, and it is therefore recommended as an additive for sealing slurries. A chief application of Vinnapas® LL 5050 is the for-mulation of highly flexible, one-component seals with > 20% redispersible powder. Tile and construction adhesives For flexible, thin-bed tile adhesives with good frost re-sistance, we recommend using 25 – 40 % cement, >5 % Vinnapasâ LL 5050 and about 0.2 - 0.5 % of a high-viscosity grade of cellulose ether, and, if neces-sary, organic fibres to reduce slump. To obtain adhe-sives with greater plasticity, the proportion of redis-persible powder should be increased, the amount of cement reduced. Tile adhesives containing about 8 – 15 % LL 5050 can be used to bond tiles to tiles or, if suitably formulated, to organic substrates such as wood-based materials. Adhesives for external insulation and finishing systems (EIFS) Hydraulic, powdery adhesives for external insulation and finish systems should contain 25 – 45 % cement, 3 – 6 % Vinnapas® LL 5050 and 0.1 – 0.3 % of a suitable water retention agent such as cellulose ether. To obtain adhesives with greater plasticity, it is advis-able to use no less than 6 % Vinnapas® LL 5050 and to limit the amount of cement to 15 – 25 %. Expanded polystyrene sheets can be bonded exceptionally well with these adhesives, whose adhesion to these sub-strates is unaffected by immersion in water. However, if sheets have been cut by hot wire, ensure that the surface is not too badly sintered. It is important to carry out preliminary tests on sheets of extruded polystyrene foam. Water-redispersible, solvent-free, plasticizer-free and film-forming aid-free vinyl acetate/vinyl ester/ethylene terpolymer powder. Used as a sole binder for making construction adhesives and seals. Shows very good resistance to saponification. Possesses relatively high ethylene content, softness and flexibility. Enhances the adhesion, flexural strength, plasticity, abrasion resistance and workability of modified compounds without appreciably affecting flow, thixotropy or water retention. Suits for highly flexible tile adhesives and waterproof, highly flexible seals. Contains mineral filler as anti-blocking agent.
