Vinnapas RE 530 Z Vinyl acetate/ethylene copolymer Wacker Ethylene copolymers - emulsions (VAE, EVC) >> Vinyl Acetate Ethylene copolymers, VAE ADHESIVE SEALANT Vinnapas® RE 530 Z is a water-redispersible vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer powder with good saponification resistance. This redispersible powder is particularly suitable for blending with inorganic binders such as cement, an-hydrite, gypsum and hydrated lime, and as a sole binder for the manufacture of construction adhesives, wall surfacers and plasters. Vinnapas® RE 530 Z improves adhesion, flexural strength, plasticity, abrasion resistance and workability of modified compounds such as construction adhesives, trowelling compounds, finish-ing plaster and repair mortar. Combined with cement or gypsum, it exhibits high thixotropy, a property of particular interest for construction adhesives, wall surfacers and cement and lime-cement finishing plasters. Vinnapas® RE 530 Z contains a fine, mineral filler as antiblocking agent. It is free of solvents, plasticizers and film-forming aids. Tile and construction adhesives To make tile adhesives based on hydraulic cement that exhibit good resistance to frost, we recommend using 30 – 50% cement, 2 – 4% Vinnapas® RE 530 Z, 0.2 – 0.4% cellulose ether or other appropriate cel-lulose derivatives as water retention agent and about 50 – 60% quartz sand (grain size: 0.2 – 0.4 mm). Vin-napas® RE 530 Z imparts excellent non-slump and good non-slip properties to these adhesives. Cellulose ethers and cellulose derivatives with high water reten-tion but without enhanced thixotropy can therefore be used. If good plasticity at very low temperatures (< 0°C) is desired, we recommend adding Vinnapas® RE 5044 N. Adhesives for external insulation and finishing systems (EIFS) Hydraulic, powdery adhesives for external insulation and finish systems should contain 25 – 45% cement, 4 – 6% RE 530 Z and 0.1 – 0.3% of a suitable water retention agent such as cellulose ether. Expanded polystyrene sheets can be bonded exceptionally well with these adhesives. However, if sheets have beencut by hot wire, ensure that the surface is not too badly sintered. It is important to carry out preliminary tests on sheets of extruded polystyrene foam. To obtain a flexible reinforcing compound in powder form, we recommend Vinnapas® RI 551 Z, RE 5034 N, RE 5044 N and LL 5050. Trowelling compounds and sealing slurries Due to its good thixotropy, Vinnapas® RE 530 Z is ideal for use in wall surfacers in combination with hydraulic binders such as cement or gypsum. The amount to be added will depend on the formulation and requirements on adhesion, flexibility as well as impact and mar resistance, and ranges from 1 – 5 % RE 530 Z based on total weight, ie, about 10 – 25 % of total inorganic binder content. The thixotropic effect of RE 530 Z is not so marked in gypsum plasters and gypsum plasters with carbonate fillers as in cementi-tious compounds. In gypsum, it is therefore advisable to add silicate fillers, eg, mica, to enhance thixotropy. Solvent-free, plasticizer-free, film-forming aid-free, water-redispersible vinyl acetate/ethylene copolymer powder. Used for blending with inorganic binders such as cement, anhydrite, gypsum and hydrated lime, and as a sole binder for the manufacture of construction and tile adhesives, adhesives for external insulation and finishing systems and sealing slurries. Shows good saponification resistance. Improves adhesion, flexural strength, plasticity, abrasion resistance and workability. Possesses high thixotropy. Contains a fine, mineral filler as anti-blocking agent, and polyvinyl alcohol as stabilizer.
