Viscosity
Resistance to flow or degree of thickening of a fluid. Some adhesives flow very easily, whereas other types of adhesives are so thick they hardly flow at all. Water and thick putties represent the extremes of viscosity. Usually expressed in poise (or centipoise) and in Pascals.seconds (Pa.s).

Volume Shrinkage (%)
Amount of dimensional change during cure.

Vulcanization
Chemical reaction in which the physical properties of an elastomer are changed by reacting it with sulfur or other crosslinking agents. Through a change in its chemical structure, the compound becomes less plastic and more resistant to swelling by organic liquids while elastic properties are conferred, improved or extended over a greater range of temperature.

Vulcanizing agent
Compounding material that produces vulcanization.
Syn. Accelerating agent
