CHEM / DPNA Methodology

Studies Scope

The studies focus on the major market segments, resin binder trends and technologies of the global adhesive and sealant industry, providing insights and describing trends of this industry world-wide.

The current base year for these studies is 2004 and demand is projected for three years. The base year will be updated annually.

Staffing

The research is carried out jointly by CHEM Research GmbH and DPNA International, Inc..

Methodology

The research supporting these studies is based on a "bottom up" approach. Each of the 12 end use market segments are analyzed by resin type (12 binder resins) across 5 technologies. This analysis is directed to 30 countries distributed across 8 regions of the world and representing about 80% of the global adhesives and sealants market.

The primary research is performed by direct interviews with multinational and local participants in the global adhesive and sealant industry. The following information sources are used.

  • manufacturers and suppliers
  • regulatory agencies
  • raw material suppliers
  • major industrial users of adhesives and sealants
  • research organizations
  • government authorities
  • trade associations
  • application equipment suppliers

  • Secondary sources are also taken into account, such as the internet, proprietary data bases, trade literature (specialized journals, conference papers), and government statistics. They supplement the primary approach described above.
