Founded in 1964, MERQUINSA is a privately owned company with global headquarters and manufacturing facilities near Barcelona, Spain, dedicated since its foundation to the research, production and sale of specialty polymers.

Initially producing acrylic, styrenic and vinylic emulsions, MERQUINSA started producing thermoplastic polyurethane chips, with a batch process, in 1970.

Since 1987, MERQUINSA´s thermoplastic polyurethanes are made with a proprietary, totally continuous process, which led, in 2001, to our latest expansion, with the start-up of what today represents the state-of-the-art unit for the production of TPUs.

Our TPU products are used in a wide range of adhesives, calendering, extrusion, injection moulding and compounding applications. Water-dispersible polyurethane pellets and pre-polymers, for adhesive and coating applications, complement the product range.

With an intensive international activity from its foundation, MERQUINSA is a global market focused company, exporting from Spain more than 95% of its production to 65 countries, with a well balanced sales distribution.
