SIS-based technology is widely used in PSA. In order to face the current SIS shortage situation or to match specific technical requirements, formulators may find in SBS and SEBS technology a suitable alternative.
SBS
Total substitution: SBS-based adhesives provide an increased stability compared to SIS technology and better shear properties. Partial substitution: This process is possible with the add of adapted tackifiers only to make SBS and SIS compatible.
As an application example of application, they can be used for repositionable labels. The Building & Construction and Automotive industries can benefit from their heat resistance property.

SEBS
SEBS-based adhesives are transparent while SIS-based adhesives are not. In several applications where aesthetic is of importance, it is crucial that the adhesive be invisible. As an exemple, some cosmetic packagings made of transparent polypropylene require labels with no visible adhesive residue. In such applications, transparency and UV resistance are two crucial properties displayed by SEBS.
SB/SIS blend
Regularly market is affected by shortage of SIS. Formulators may find advantages in partial substitution of SIS. SSBR is providing formulators with opportunities to partially substitute SIS while keeping high level of performance.
Partial substitution of SIS by SSBR does not require a complete formulation reconsideration (tackifiers don't need to be substituted).
