Polyurethane adhesives are produced in many grades such as one-component, two-component,
dispersion and solvent-based, for use in different application areas. Solvent-based
polyurethane adhesives are suitable for a number of different industrial and construction
applications, having good adhesion to rubber, leather, textiles, metal, paper, wood,
and plastics. In addition, solvent-based polyurethane adhesives are used for a wide
variety of laminating applications.
As with other adhesives, stabilizers should be added in the formulation to protect
the adhesive from degradation during both processing and service life. Some antioxidants
are effective for solvent-based polyurethanes.
